Chairman, General Paul Kern (retired)
General Paul J. Kern has an extremely distinguished record of service to our nation, including two tours of duty in Vietnam and service with the 24th Infantry Division during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. General Kern was Commanding General of the Army Materiel Command, and Military Deputy to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology. He was also Commander of the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) and Senior Military Assistant to the Secretary of Defense and Deputy Secretary of Defense. At the conclusion of his military career, General Kern led the investigation into Abu Ghraib and continues to work with the Center for Victims of Torture.

A nationwide collaborative infrastructure consisting of small and medium domestic manufacturers, academic labs and NPOs across the US and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico that have committed unique and dedicated capacity in support of AFFOA projects. Assembled, coordinated, and managed by AFFOA, the FIN serves as its distributed project execution foundry with capabilities in all aspects of manufacturing in advanced textile systems including design and modeling, manufacturing of fibers and yarns as well as nonwovens, woven and knitted textiles plus assembly and system integration, including data and software services across prototyping and pilot production scales.
A network of regional “fab-less” startup incubators dedicated to advanced fabrics will be set up with help from Venture Capital (VC) near our University Hubs.
